An Appeal to Help Save a life of Harriet Kobugabe

Harriet Kobugabe, a budding entrepreneur, dynamic youth activist very instrumental in the campaigns and advocacy for good governance, accountability, gender equality and gender responsive governance, was attached by her then fiancé in 2011 at her home in Bukasa resulting into a crack on her chest that left her in an ailing situation. Since the incident her condition has never normalized despite undergoing 4 surgeries at International Hospital Kampala (IHK) where she was first treated immediately after the incident. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH:-- WE WANT ACTION ON CORRUPTION NOW!

Fellow Citizens of Uganda: The President of Uganda, His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has over the years publically condemned corruption and promised zero tolerance to theft in public offices. This was supposed to be exemplified through the setup of the Anti-Corruption Court and the National Strategy to fight Corruption, the Directorate of Ethics and Integrity in the President’s Office, among other institutions put in place to fight corruption. What has emerged is that, we have too many institutions and yet we see no concrete action on corruption. Uganda’s children continue to die of malaria, malnutrition, nodding disease and many other preventable diseases while our leaders and technocrats shamelessly loot with greed the money meant to provide medicine for our children. Our teachers sleep hungry and our children have no lunch at school, our policemen sleep like dogs and are paid peanuts, our doctors, nurses and midwives are underpaid, unpaid and on str...

WHY YOUNG PEOPLE IN UGANDA MUST SUPPORT THE CAMPAIGN ON THE RESTORATION OF PRESIDENTIAL TERM LIMITS.

While the state remains focused on entrenching and sustaining one individual,the Youth pay the price for this. That's why our defense budget receives the largest allocation (over 40%) while very little goes to critical Sectors that are important for Job Creation and development of Youth like Education (now at 14% of the budget) and health which you remember too well. The high cost of maintaining a leader is the reason the state can not find resources to help and change the situation of Young people. The state of Young people in Uganda today (85% unemployment,25% completion rate in U.P.E schools, very poor access or no timely access to health care is as a direct result of increasingly conflicting National and Individual Interests.

CAN NETWORK MARKETING REDEEM UNEMPLOYED YOUTH?

At a time when even the employed are feeling the not-so-pleasant pinches of the hard economic times, the skyrocketing rise in unemployment levels is a disastrous puzzle that has defied all attempts muscled to solve it. The resultant situation is simply horrific. According to a study published in Social Indicator Research, even those who tend to be optimistic find it difficult to look on the bright side of things when unemployed. Among the many stakeholders brainstorming on practical means of addressing unemployment are the Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) companies. As their suggested version of the solution to this quandary, MLM companies also synonymously referred to as Network Marketing, have through their independent distribution networks, risen to the occasion to suggest that the unemployed youth can and should take advantage of MLM to realize their dreams.
